Case Study

From International Ambition to Relationship Architecture

How Will Be Live helped CVCA organize international opportunities, stakeholder relationships and strategic intelligence into an actionable engagement framework.

CVCA was exploring how to strengthen its international engagement and build more deliberate connections between global capital and Canada’s private-capital ecosystem. Will Be Live was engaged to bring greater structure to that ambition - mapping opportunities, identifying relevant stakeholders and helping translate a broad international mandate into actionable relationship pathways.

The Challenge

International engagement is not simply a matter of identifying markets or producing a list of prospective contacts. Success depends on understanding where institutional interest exists, which relationships can create momentum and how each stakeholder fits within a broader strategy.

CVCA required a clearer view of the international opportunity landscape, the organizations and individuals capable of advancing it, and the narrative required to engage them credibly. The work also needed to remain flexible as priorities, events and stakeholder conversations evolved.

The Mandate

1
Identify and assess priority international opportunities.
2
Map the institutions, intermediaries and relationship owners relevant to each opportunity.
3
Develop an engagement architecture connecting global capital with Canadian private-capital managers.
4
Provide ongoing intelligence and senior advisory support as opportunities developed.

The Approach

Five connected workstreams that turned a broad international ambition into a working engagement framework.

01
International opportunity mapping
Priority regions and investor profiles, assessed for relevance and access.
02
Stakeholder architecture
Who matters around each opportunity, why, and how to engage them.
03
Strategic intelligence
Research turned into briefings and clear decision support.
04
Relationship activation
Introductions built on mutual relevance, not generic outreach.
05
Embedded advisory
An extension of the team, linking every opportunity to the mandate.

The Impact

The engagement gave CVCA a more structured view of its international opportunity landscape and the relationships surrounding it. It created a shared framework for evaluating stakeholders, prioritizing engagement and connecting individual conversations to a longer-term international strategy.

Most importantly, the work moved the mandate beyond a collection of contacts and activities toward a more deliberate model of relationship development - one grounded in relevance, context and continuity.

The Will Be Live Perspective

Global opportunities rarely fail because organizations lack access to names. They fail because the surrounding intelligence, relationship context and follow-through have not been designed.

Will Be Live helps institutions move from broad ambition to actionable relationship architecture - identifying where opportunity exists, who matters and how engagement should unfold.
